Richard ‘Jock’ Kinneir (1917 – 1994) was a typographer and graphic designer who, with colleague Margaret Calvert, designed many of the road signs used throughout the United Kingdom.

Born in 1917, he studied engraving at the Chelsea School of Art and after working for the government he opened his own office. His major commissions included the signage for Gatwick Airport, a baggage labeling system for P&O Line shipping company and the font used by British Rail.
